Frequently Asked Questions

We answer your questions! Here you can find the most frequently asked questions and their answers.

1) What is FoWo Izmir? Who can join?
FoWo Izmir is an interactive Formation Workshop created for EUROAVIA members who want to develop both personal and professional skills in an international environment. It is built around hands-on learning, teamwork, practical exercises, and networking.

2) What will the workshop be about?
The program will focus on soft skills and career development topics such as leadership, communication, teamwork, conflict management, time management, problem-solving, project management, interview skills, CV improvement, and personal branding.

3) Will there only be workshops, or also social activities?
FoWo Izmir is mainly training-based, but it also includes networking, group bonding, and opportunities to experience the atmosphere and culture of İzmir.

4) Can I arrive earlier or stay longer?
Accommodation is only provided for the official event dates. If you plan to arrive earlier or leave later, the Organizing Committee can help you find suitable accommodation options.

5) How can I get around İzmir?
İzmir has a well-developed public transport system, including the metro, tram, and ferries. You can use an İzmirim Kart or, on many lines, a contactless credit or debit card. The Organizing Committee will also guide participants when needed.

6) Is tap water safe to drink?
Although tap water is treated, it is generally not preferred for drinking because of its mineral content and taste. Bottled water will be provided during the sessions, and it is easy to find in local markets.

7) What is the weather like in July?
Mid-July in İzmir is hot, sunny, and typically very summery, with temperatures often ranging between 30°C and 40°C. We recommend light clothing, sunscreen, and staying well hydrated.

8) What should I pack?
Bring comfortable summer clothes, walking shoes, and anything you may need for hot weather. A swimsuit may also be useful in case there is time to enjoy the Aegean coast.

9) How do I get from İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) to the city?
The most common options are the İZBAN suburban train and the HAVAŞ shuttle buses. İZBAN is directly connected to the airport and is usually the most practical and budget-friendly choice.

10) Do I need a passport, or can I enter Türkiye with my national ID card?
Most participants will need a valid passport to enter Türkiye. However, citizens of Germany, Belgium, France, Georgia, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Ukraine, Greece, Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, and Romania can enter with their national ID card instead. If your country is not on this list, you should plan to travel with a passport.
